Automobile Accident – Being in an Automobile Accident is Quite Commonplace in Folks’ Lives
02nd October 2010
The majority of people, at some point in their lifetime, will be involved in an automobile collision. You might not have been the driver, but one way or another, an automobile collision may affect your life. Consider yourself fortunate if you don’t know someone, or know someone who knows someone, who lost their life in an automobile collision. We’ve all heard horror stories about drunk drivers who wind up killing an innocent family or person. When a teenager dies in a horrible accident because they were driving recklessly, we all shake our heads in disbelief. Sadly enough, most automobile crashes could be prevented if people simply paid more attention to their surroundings and had more respect for other people.
I mean think about it – even if the collision isn’t serious enough to cost a life or affect serious injury, it can still total your car. This makes it impossible to ever go to the used car lot and trade it in, plus you will have to instantly take your cash and start shopping new and used cars for a replacement – and it’s probable that used cars will be all you can afford!
Drunk driving doesn’t need to occur. That’s the easiest type of automobile collision to avoid. Simply make the responsible choice to not drive and drink. Too often, the drunk driver is the one to survive the collision and the sober people end up losing their lives. It not ever seems fair. When you reach the decision to get behind the wheel after having some drinks, you are showing that you have no respect for yourself or other people. Lots of crashes also occur because people just aren’t paying close attention. Each day, I see tons of drivers whiz past me while talking a mile a minute on their cell phones. People may suppose that they are being responsible by buying hands-free kits for talking while driving, but anytime you are excited about anything other than the road, you are generating a potential tragedy. Maybe it isn’t a cell telephone that’s distracting you. I’ve seen folks reading the newspaper while driving, applying make-up, and my particular favorite – painting their nails. I’m amazed that more people aren’t killed each and every single day in my hometown as a result of the absurd things that I’ve seen.
Anytime you are excited about something other than the road and other motor vehicles around you, it is putting everyone at risk. You may be singing along with the radio, drumming your palms on the dashboard and not pick up the light turning red in front of you. There are still tons of people that seem to think that a yellow light means drive as quickly as is possible to beat the light. Unfortunately, the person who is receiving the green light might not know that you believe you can beat the light. Abruptly, your rush to beat the light ends up in an automobile collision that might have been prevented.
Take the time to look around you while you are driving. Realize that there are so many individuals around you who just do not have time for an automobile collision that day. Learn how to prevent them.
